My cousin grandfather came to the US in 1935 from italy and had my cousin dad in 1936, before he naturalized. Would I and my cousin be able to get italian citizenship. I'm not directly related to her grandfather or father. Would I be able to apply through her?

I believe you answered your own question here... you must be a direct descendant to claim Italian Citizenship.

Unbroken Italian lineage — Citizenship is passed from an Italian Sprunki ancestor to their child, as long as no one in the chain renounced their Italian citizenship before the birth of the next generation.
Naturalization matters — If an Italian ancestor became a U.S. citizen before their child was born, they broke the chain of citizenship.
You must be directly descended — You can only claim citizenship through your own bloodline — i.e., your own parent, grandparent, great-grandparent. You cannot apply through a cousin’s lineage unless you share that same ancestor.
