Hello,
One of my grand-daughter's great-grandmothers was born in Polistena, Calabria in 1935. She is still alive in Australia and approaching her 90th birthday. Would there be any record of her birth or birth certificate that I would be able to obtain? Would her birth have been registered with local 'authorities' or would it have only been recorded in the church where she was baptised?

Unfortunately you won’t find records of that year online.
You could contact the Comune di Polistena, as a matter of fact Maria could contact them directly herself to obtain her birth certificate.
