My wife and I are traveling to Italy for the first time in September, and would like to visit relatives, if possible.
I have researched and found that my family on my father’s side is from Naples. His father, Angelo Alfieri (born 1892, Recalmuto Girgenti , Sicily) emigrated in 1901, on the SS Liguria, arriving in New York City on June 12, 1901. He traveled with his father Carmine, and brother Nicola.
On July 27, 1913, he married Calogera Chiarella, of Sicily, in New York City. My father, Joseph, was born on Oct 31, 1923.
I would dearly want to find any living relatives in the Naples area. Can you help me?

Re: Looking for relatives in Naples.
Hi Joe,
You must admit that this sounds a bit contradictory.
You state that your grandfather Angelo was born in Racalmuto, Agrigento and then say that your family is from Naples.
How did you came to that conclusion?
Was Carmine born in that area?
I’ve found the 1901 ship’s manifest.
The last stated residence is Palma.
There are two in Italy.
One is Palma Campania in the province of Caserta and the other one is Palma di Montechiaro in the province of Agrigento.
The latter is the most likely one if Angelo was born in Racalmuto.

EDIT
Having looked more carefully it looks like it’s Alfieri Carmina who goes to join her husband and Angelo and Nicola go to join their father.
So, that Angelo’s surname is not Alfieri but probably Ferrara.
