state archives

I read in Cole that we can just go to the state archive, for example Salerno, and be able to access the records. Any suggestions on doing this?

I don't know about Salerno but The State Archives in Caserta allow you to research up to 4 (yes FOUR) books a day. Not great if you aren't sure of the year you need. Frosinone is more flexible but Naples is also strict about the number of books you can access in a day and there can be up to an hour wait if the records are off site.

At the AdS of Salerno you can request three books for every "presa" ("taking"? I don't know how to translate), and there are 5 or 6 "presa" a day. I mean that there's a clerk who takes the books that were requested from the shelves in the archive to the study room, 5 or 6 times a day. And every time you can request 3 books (or even some more, if they are consecutively numbered)
