Seek Info on Calogero Interrante di Sciacca, Agrigento

Post by cinterrante62 »

Ciao

My sister and I are trying to learn about our Italian grandfather whom we never got to meet. Here is what we "think" we know: Born September 10, 1897 in Sciacca. We believe his father was also Calogero Interrante, born in Sciacca in 1868. We have no idea when he came to the U.S., when (or if) he became a U.S. citizen, etc.

My sister and I are newbies so don't really know how or where to search for this sort of family information. Any tips would be molto gentile.

Grazie tanto,

Charles M. Interrante (born 1962, Boston).

Cara Suanj

Grazie mille! This must be him. His mother was Vincenza and father Calogero (that much we knew).

I had no idea he was 16 when he arrived. That means he was the right age to fight in the First World War.

One of my cousins who has visited Sciacca told me there is a World War I memorial and one side is completely covered with Interrante and Indelicato (my grandmother's name).

Thank you so much for your help. I can't wait to tell my sister!!!

with gratitude.

Here is that Calogero Interrante (b. 9 Oct 1897 in Sciacca) in my tree:

https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/pe ... 0951/facts

That part of the tree includes all his 2nd great grandparents and goes back up to 2 more generations in some cases. His birth record, his parents' marriage record, and his mother's birth record are attached to their profiles.

Hello Carubia:

Thank you very much for sharing. I will need to join ancestry.com to view.

My sister and I know so little about our family's history. My dad (age 80) never talks about his father and we never got to meet our grandfather while he was living.

One of the things my sister and I are discussing is a trip to Sciacca, Sicily to see where we originally come from. Hopefully some time in 2018.

Grazie tanto for the share!

You don't need to have an Ancestry account to view the tree. If you send me your email address by a PM on this site, I'll have Ancestry send you an invitation to view the tree.
