The 7th and 8th images are part of the same birth record. While the first page is almost illegible, there was enough information on the second page to piece together what it possibly says...

I hope someone will also take a look and give their opinion :-)

This is a birth record for Maria Domenica Stravino.
She was born on the 18th of the month (looks like it could be November or December) in 1909.
Mother is Mariacarmina De Lucia, widow of Domenico Stravino.
On the second page it notes that the declarant (whose name I can't read on the first page, but who is a housewife) reported that the husband of Mariacarmina could not be present because he died(?) or left (?) on the 14th of the current month.

Hi T.

I was just looking at that last image and had pretty much given up reading page 1. I don't know if I can get a better copy of this document but I will try.

This film has been a challenge for me both in quality in some areas and the fact that it starts in S.M.C.V. in 1866 when they stopped using the Napoleonic era forms and did all documents in longhand without the benefit of standard forms. It has become a painstaking and time consuming effort for me. :(
By default, my ability to read these documents has to improve.

Thank you so much for helping Robyn.

Thanks so much you two!

It's nice to know how helpful people can be ..glad to know I wasen't the only one struggling with the last two ... guess I shouldn't have tried to read them first!! ha!

I appreciate the time you both have spent - especially you Jim for looking these up to begin with .. I am indebted to you both.

Now if only I had it so easy with the other side - Buttinelli from Lazio!! ha! (just kidding!!)

Cheers!

Jim,

Why don't you wait and see if that last document is relevant to Robyn's search first. No sense searching for, and re-scanning a document that she doesn't need. :-D

Guys - you are so right.

I'm still not sure if this/these person/persons are related and how ... As mentioned since my friends' father is estranged they only know the names of the grandparents (Fiorentino Stravino and his wife Maria Camela "?") ..

Think I am going to have to try to figure out how to locate Fiorentino's birth and marriage records in order to see what relation these folks are. Since we just found out through the grapevine that Fiorentino just died either last Monday or Tuesday at the age of 98 I think it is safe to say he was born around 1912.

One question maybe someone can answer - is there a way to see if there was an obituary posted in a local newspaper in Santa Maria a Vico where he was living when he died? It may provide information that would be helpful to me?

Cheers! :)

Hi Robyn

I don't know of any local newspapers but someone may.

However, if you have access to a Family History Center, you can order 1 film that has all births from 1911 - 1923 for Santa Maria a Vico. It is a small town, so 1 film covers many years.

Film # 2225808

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... +Santa+Mar++

It should be pretty easy to find this person's birth record.

That will, at least, give you his parents for the look back.
