I am seeking information on my grandparents, Stefano Marenghi and Celesta (Abretti) Marenghi. Both emigrated to the USA in 1895 and 1899, respectively, and they married and lived in Milford, Mass., USA, where I also grew up. My father was Gerolamo (Jerry) Marenghi of Milford, 1907-1963.
I would like to visit the region where my grandparents lived and secure their birth certificates. It took years to locate the very small towns where they likely lived -- Metti and Pellegrino Parmense -- in the Parma province. Stefano Marenghi's parents were Bartolomeo and Elizabetta (Pesmina) Marenghi. I do not believe they ever left Italy. Celesta's parents were Luigi and Marianna (Marenghi) Abretti; they did emigrate and also lived in Milford, MA.
In addition to finding my grandparents' birth certificates, I would like to visit the cemetery where my ancestors are buried and learn as much about the family as I can. Please let me know if you can help.

Re: Seeking Marenghi family documents
There are posts on my website that will help you plan your visit. Preparing for a trip to the town of Origin and Rest in Peace.
Getting their civil records can be done by contacting the town offices in writing with photo ID and requesting photocopies of the records.

I do not know if you have this... the baptism of Stefano Paolo Marenghi in 1870 (24 January)
He was the son of Bartolomeo Marenghi and of Elisabetta Resemini, married couple.
Godparents were: Pietro Ferrari, son of Cristofaro; and Giovanna Boveri, daughter of Andrea
#4 - top of right side.

Do you have an approximate year of birth for Celesta Abretti?

Re: Seeking Marenghi family documents
My grandmother Celestina Abretti was born March 1, 1886, in the town of Varsi, province of Parma. Are the baptism records online? Also, I’d love to know the year of death for my great grandparents, Bartolomeo Marenghi and Elisabetta Resmini, both of Metti. How can I learn that? Thanks!
Re: Seeking Marenghi family documents
Yes, they are available online at FamilySearch.org:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/cat ... %20Library
as well as civil records
https://www.familysearch.org/search/cat ... %20Library
but unfortunately they only can be seen at Family History Centers of the Mormon Church.
Maybe there's one next to you?
