Can Anyone Translate this Latin Marriage Record

Post by Lili2 »

Hi,
This is a 1763 Marriage Record from Calatabiano Church Records. I need help please with the translation from Latin to English or Italian. Im so sorry the photos arnt that great. Its the best I can do. The microfilm must be slightly out of focus plus it is enlarged and the writing is faint etc etc
The following are 3 photos of the same record. I tried closer shots in the vain hope of making it more legible.
I can read the groom's name: Michele Pennisi and I think his father is Antonino.

Lili

The picture is too fuzzy to give you a 100% correct transcription, but i'll try likewise (thanks to the friends of tuttogenealogia.it too: http://www.tuttogenealogia.it/index.php ... sc&start=0 )

P.S.
To do a translation of such a fuzzy picture is not a quick and easy thing to do and, in this specific case, I was "forced" to ask the help of someone else for a few hard words, so... a "thank you" is always welcome (if not for me, at least for the other friends that helped me). Otherwise, if the document is not so important, don't ask for a translation. Obviously this is not a message only for Lili2 (maybe she didn't still connect to the forum), but for all the members that ask for translations

Hi Lucap,
I havn't logged on for a few days, sorry for the delay in my response. Thank you so much for working out this translation. I couldnt get beyond Michele Pennisi by myself so its amazing you could work it all out! Very much appreciated.
The picture was too fuzzy as you say. I tried many times to re focus with my camera but in the end decided the actual micro film was slightly out of focus.
Thanks to all for your efforts. Im still amazed you could read it. I had given up.
Kind Regards, Lili

By the way. You can see that I wasn't sure about some of the names and I gave you an alternative where it was possible. My choice is for:
Andrea Vinciguerra (not Antonio)
Santa Campagna (not Giovanna Castagna)
but they are not 100% sure.

Hi Luca,
That's OK, no problem really about not being 100%. I didnt expect it could be read really so your translation is fantastic.
Yes i can read Santa Campagna now. I think you are right, her husband's name could be Andrea.
I am very impressed with Domenica Sarda that name is particularly difficult to make out.
Apologies for this tough translation and thanks for your hard work. It was a tough challenge and I guess I wasnt expecting such amazing results.
Lili

P.S. I am still trying to work out if this Michele Pinnisi is the grandfather of another Michele Pennisi in my family. If I make the connection it means I now also have Michele's parents names which gives me another generation for my tree!!
