what does cargese mean?
I'm looking over some civil birth records from Salemi, Trapani, Sicily and have come across a birth record that lists a man's occupation as "Cargese". I cannot seem to find a translation for this word. The record says: "Cargese domiciliato in Salemi...." A record from 2 years lat...
