Anastasi is an Italian, or primarily Sicilian surname. Yes, there are Anastasi in Malta as well but people dealing with geneaology should be the least to assume that a Maltese surname is restricted to those commonly perceived as Maltese people. In Malta, Darmanin actually originated from Italy, at least from what I remember from Mario Cassar's etymological dictionary of Maltese surnames (or rather the surnames of those resident in Malta). I will have to confirm this when I have the book in my possession, as it is currently not.
