Anastasi is an Italian, or primarily Sicilian surname. Yes, there are Anastasi in Malta as well but people dealing with geneaology should be the least to assume that a Maltese surname is restricted to those commonly perceived as Maltese people. Malta was inseparable from Sicily throughout all its history, bar when British Imperialists volitionally, actively and openly (it is on British public documents) carried forward a policy of cultural deitalianisation in Malta and anglicisation, starting off from the 1880s and proceeding through subsequent decades nearly to the point of integrating the archipelago in the UK (which thankfully didn't happen even though British Imperiali authorities harassed and attempted to corrupt the main nationalist political figures actively campaigning against it).

Refer to this on Anastasi, unfortunately I'm in a rush and cannot translate immediately:

http://www.cognomiitaliani.org/cognomi/cognomi0001n.htm
