Re: The Sardos, from Catania, Sicily
Hello Melinda,
So nice to meet you! I have been trying to work on the paternal Sardo line tonight, but it is proving difficult! I am not sure exactly where Joseph and Annie tie in, but it is definitely the same family. Michael Sardo and Agatha Guglielmini had 3 daughters, of which I am descended ...

Hi Zara,
So a year later I am finally sitting back down to research...lol!
Thank you for that info, I have taken note of it!
But being as I only have Agata Guglielmini in my tree born in 1782 and then leaving for the states, I do not have anything much to go on. Her parents were Martin Guglielmini ...

Re: Italian language
Hello,
My relatives, who came from Catania, Sicily, had the surname of Sardo. I can trace them back to 1452. Would their name be derived somehow from the language? Perhaps if they spoke it or came from that area??
Just curious as I know many names came from professions, ect.
Thank you.

Re: Romano - LaRuffa | Casino, Italy
I doubt this is much help, but I have an Eleanora Romano in my history. Unfortunatly a name is all I have. She married Martin Guglielmini, who was from either Palermo or Catania, Sicily. This was back in the mid 1700's.
Good luck and keep me posted!!

Thank you!! I cant take much credit though!
I was lucky on ONE branch of my family! I have access to a 1000+ page handwritten Memorial book from the 1800's of my history where my Scottish and Italian side came together. It includes letters, a signed marine band discharge certificate and my Sicilian ...
