Re: Belfi or Zammichieli

My grandfather was born in Vodo and immigrated to New Jersey as a young child. They went back and forth a few times. I am related to the Belfi's and Zammichieli on my grandmother's side (she was Teresa Spalmacin) and Talamini's on my grandfather's side. My great grandfather's first wife was a Del ...

I have received the information below from the priest in Vodo di Cadore. I don't understand about the cognome/soprannome. The name after the family name.
Can someone explain why I am a Gregori "Croi" not a Gregori "Bello" or Bello-Croi? See below:

1. Simone Gregori"Bello"
sposa Orsolan D'Olivo

Re: Surnames Rigolo, DeLotto, Fiore, Delfavero

Was his father's name Lewis and mother's name Mabel? I found a Henry Del Favaro in Bergen New Jersey on Ancestery.com. There are quite of few from the Cadore area that settled in New Jersey. Do you know his birth year?

Re: Looking for family

My great grandfather's (Giovanni Battista Gregori) first wife was Margherita Del Favaro. They lived in Vodo Cadore and then immigrated to New York. They had one son. My great grandfather married after Margherita died and had my grandfather. I don't know if they are related.

letter from Vodo Cadore

I just received a second response to my request for information on my family from Vodo Cadore. The cover letter is in Italian and I am wondering if there is someone who would be able to help me translate it. Even though I sent it to the Office of Registry it seems that they send the request to the ...

Re: International Reply Coupns

The IRC are good for a year from the time of purchase. You do need to get them at a larger post office not the smaller ones. I used the IRc with my first irequest for a family certificate and they honored them. I just sent for another family certificate so I am hoping they accept the ones I sent. I ...

Re: requesting a family ceritifcate

I used regular mail and received the family certificate in less than a month. I think it was part due to the fact that Vodo cadore only has about 900 people and Gregori is the second most common name in that town. I just sent off another request (and thank you) for my great great grandfather and my ...

Re: Naturalization

I do have access to Ancestry. The only naturalization I found was John Gregori. County Court Kings Count N.Y. Feb 2 1891. That could be my great grandfather. There are a few Giovanni Gregori's.
My grandfather was born in Italy not only the family certificate, ship manifest and census but a cousin ...

Naturalization

I have always assumed my grandfather was naturalized. He came to the USA when he was 2. I noticed that the 1910 and 1920 census say he is alien, (according to N.J. 1910 census my great grandfather was naturalized)
My grandfather joined the army in Ohio is 1916. In 1930 in the Ohio census he says he ...

Re: requesting a family ceritifcate

Thanks for the info. When I requested my first family certificate from Vodo Cadore I used the form letters from the web site
http://anzwers.org/free/italiangen/index
they have a few form letters in Italian and translated in English, therefore you just put in the names and information. I also sent 2 ...
