Re: Cheaper airline tickets and hotels with EP passport?
Price changes occur not because of your accent but because of availability. Hotel rooms, air fares and everything else charges on that basis. The only other consideration is time of day a reservation is made and whether fares or costs can deescalate if prices drop after reservations are made ...

Re: Cheaper airline tickets and hotels with EP passport?
I know that when I call a hotel, I get cheaper deals then if I book online, especially if it's a US-based hotel chain.
I also know that when a friend calls with her natural accent, she usually get better deals then when I call with my accent (even though we're both speaking the native language ...

Re: Had My appointment at the Miami Consulate Today
I received mine by writing the comune (as you would with a birth certificate) and making a request. They were very helpful there.

Re: loopholes in gaining Italian Citizenship
There's no leniency - it's hard enough for qualified citizens to get approved.

Re: Amending Vital Records 101 (My Experience)
Wow, thanks! I'm sure I'll have many more questions when I really start to dig into this. My petition looked very different, so this is a good reference point before I submit it.
I think many people here file in Philly because that city has a large Italian population, or at least used to.

Re: last step in dual citizenship and now stuck
Thank you -- all of you who have offered advice. I am in NJ USA and working with the consulate in Newark. I am a teacher and can call only after 3 o'clock. I call and call and call every day over and over and the line is always busy.

Re: last step in dual citizenship and now stuck
Why would you use a service to make an appointment? Those services will not get you an earlier appointment, and cannot make an appointment - all they can do is call the consulate using the same number we all use.

Re: last step in dual citizenship and now stuck
I have ALL necessary documents for dual citizenship in long, certified form with apostille seals from both US and Italy and with translations. Now what? I call and email my consulate and get no response. No one answers the phone, or it is busy, or I leave a message that goes unanswered. I send ...

Re: Census record from Dept. of Commerce help please
I've looked on many websites and it seems to be standard that they want a census from the Dept of Commerce in cases where there was no naturalization. I'm going through the Los Angeles Consulate.
You might want to email them and ask. The standard is a NARA certified copy of the Census. The last ...

Re: Census record from Dept. of Commerce help please
I already have copies of all my census records, a printed copy from Ancestry or NARA is not acceptable for dual cit. The consulate wants the census record from the Dept. of Commerce. I agree, the census records are full of errors, don't know why this is a requirement but it is.

While waiting for my gf naturalization papers, I need to have documents translated to Italian. I live in NJ, but right now in Florida for a month or longer. So does anyone know of a translator in the sw Fl. area, possibly near Naples? Might as well get this done while I wait, and wait ...

Re: Census record from Dept. of Commerce help please
Where are you ordering from? The NARA certified copies are not $65. They take roughly a month to arrive (longer than naturalization documents but not as long as passenger records) and are not time sensitive.
