My father was born in Macchia da Sole. He moved to Canada in the 70s and I believe that the last name Baldassaro is in our family tree. It is not our last name however, I believe that my great grandmother's maiden name was Baldassaro. Small world.

Re: Macchia da sole
Thanks Paul,
I wasn't sure which ship he would have come over on or where it departed from. I beleive he was around 9 when he left Italy with his 2 older brothers. But 1920 was too late as my mother was born in 1927. So I haven't had much luck in finding any information on him.

Re: Macchia da Sole
Thank you Peter,
I am still looking to hear from anyone from this area. What the town is like now and what it was like in the late 1800's early 1900's when my grandfather grew up there.
His name over here was Sal Baldassero. But it could have been changed when he arrived in Canada. Baldassaro ...

Re: immigration to canada
where would I find information on ships landing in Montreal in the early 1900's from Italy? Is the port of entry where the documents would have been drafted for them to enter and stay in Canada?

Dominco was Antonios son, my mothers cousin.
