Re: Dual Citzens Purchasing/Renovating Property in Italy

I was replying to your statement that "all Italian citizens have the right to be treated equally"

Re: Dual Citzens Purchasing/Renovating Property in Italy

I don't understand your last sentence. Italian law treats everybody the same here, but is constant regardless of your own personal tax situation. I agree - if there is a property that need to be renovated and the price makes no sense, move on. The tax benefits figure into whether the price makes sen...

Re: Italian Citizenship Via Maternal Grandmother

Have you ruled out the possibility of having your Italian citizenship recognized based on your grandfather (he was born in the US but his parents were also born in Italy)?

Re: Chicago Consulate based on S.F. file

Your statement makes it sound like the second consulate will be making its determination from scratch. I thought they accepted the determination of the first consulate as to all common info (i.e. up through my dad) and began their process from that point.

Chicago Consulate based on S.F. file

My sister will be applying for J.S. in the Chicago Consulate. I have been recognized via the San Francisco consulate, so she should be able to use my S.F. file and then provide her papers subsequent to my father.

Anyone have any experience in applying in Chicago based on another consulate's file?

Interesting. I have heard nothing from my commune, but went up and got my passport a week after getting my acceptance letter from the S.F. consulate.

Re: GOT MY LETTER!!!!

a guy from Seattle sent the application form and pictures to SF consulate via mail, and he got passports after about 3 weeks - one month. I guess in each italian consulate abroad there is a one office office that works only to issue italian passport. In Italy I got my passport in one week. I hope i...

Re: How do I certify USCIS naturalization certificate?

How is a certified "copy" from NARA different than a "certified naturalization certificate" from USCIS? Does USCIS issue brand new certificates? I would think not.

Re: How do I certify USCIS naturalization certificate?

San Francisco required a certified certificate: "the one with the seal and red ribbon." After getting a copy from USCIS I found I needed the certified copy, which I got from N.A.R.A.

Re: NYC Second Appt

I have never heard of such a deadline. If you meet the requirements of citizenship, you must be recognized as a citizen. I can understand a consulate wanting to speed things along and keep order (nobody should need a dozen appointments), but if you don't have your stuff in 90 days, either go and giv...

Re: Assets & Dual Citizenship

I believe the banks hold onto the funds for 5 years if there is no activity or contact from the owner. Then they pass to the State's office of unclaimed funds but it is an easy matter to collect that directly with a simple application. It is definately NOT an easy matter in California. In fact, it ...
