[quote=GT, the Riveli might offer some insights here[/quote]
Hi VotM
Thanks for the suggestion. Would I be correct in my interpretation that the Riveli you mention is the population and taxation census? I read on Family Search some of the information to be found in these records although it ...

Very interesting insight and not dissimilar from some culture's today. I presume from this the larger the area of land they work the larger the family should be, which begs the question how was land acquired, divided, acquired, inherited, administered and what structure overlies this. Not ...

Hi Board
I have been attempting to read through Giovanni Massoni's "La Pieve e la Comunita di Vorno" to help my understanding of the area where the families I am researching came from.

Yes, I noticed this in France at Cerisy Gailly Military Cemetery. It has a very respectful attribute to european sites are regarded unlike the way the some cemeteries are cared for here.

Re: Cimiteri e sepolture
Hi Ann
Its a bit of a blow to find that the older markers are rare to find. The oldest ones I have recorded are 1890, 1891, 1893 and 1899 at Sommocolonia and 1899 at Badia Cantignano which unless all my ancestors were rich and famous this might be the best it gets.
Clearly (like here) there are ...

I have not long returned from there and can't believe the events unfolding in such a tranquil location. My condolences to those who have lost someone and sympathies to all affected by the quake.

Re: Devil bridges
Hi Paola
Thanks for the list, I appreciate the time taken to respond. I agree there are many such bridges and not confined to Italy either. Several of these will certainly be within my range. Very interesting bridge at Lanzo Torinese with its offset archway!!
Ciao

Re: Devil bridges
Hi PippoM
Thanks for the reply. A very nice bridge and by all accounts relatively easy access, I see it has been recently rebuilt (or at least the upper parts).
Its close to a couple of places that are already on my route (Follonica and Grosseto), this is a good start.
Cheers

Hi Board
Having recently returned from Italy I am interested to know what other areas claim to have a "Devils Bridge" (Ponte di Diavolo) such as:
Ascoli Piceno's - Ponte di Cecco or
Borgo a Mozzano's - Ponte della Maddalena
I plan to try to visit as many as possible during my next trip to Italy ...

Re: Help with siblings
Request emailed as per your guidance. I found the process quite simple to follow once I worked out what I was looking at but also a bit limiting and matter of fact. I have read that many officials don't really care about the people their records relate to but it would be nice to be able to show my ...
