Re: Andreoni from Vorno, Capannori
Received the certified NARA documentation today:
Name: Giorgio Giuseppe Rago
DOB :25 Jul 1898 in Saponara, Italy
Emigration to U.S.: 20 Jul 1914
Port of Departure: Naples, Italy
Vessel: "Palermo"
Arrived in U.S.: Boston, Mass
T (or all other helpful types here) - any chance you can dig into Giorgio's Italian records for me now? Based on the Boston ship manifest, Giorgio's father's name was "Antonio" and his brother's name in Los Banos, CA, was "Vincenzo". Some good additional info there. Hopefully, y'all can weave some more of your magic...

Re: Andreoni from Vorno, Capannori
More info: found a Santa Cruz, CA death notice for a Vincenzo "Jim" Rago on 6 Aug 1976. DOB 1 Sep 1898 in Italy.
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi page=gr&GSln=Rago&GSiman=1&GScid=8133&GRid=34699518&
http://www.newspapers.com/newspage/62291436/
The newspaper record indicates this Vincenzo emigrated from Italy to Los Banos, CA in 1914. However, seems the nearest relative reference in a WWI Draft Registration card as being "Luigi"?
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse. ... &ml_rpos=1
Not the "Antonio" I seemed to find above.
A little while later I find a 1920 Census that shows Vincenzo as a nephew of "Louis" and "Rosie" Rago...
http://interactive.ancestry.com/6061/42 ... turnRecord
Also, a NY Ellis Island 1914 ship manifest for Vincenzo (line 10) Mother is Maria ______? Going to join brother "Antonio" in Los Banos, CA?
http://interactive.ancestry.com/7488/NY ... turnRecord
1930 Census Record shows "Tony" Rago (Raggo) as brother.
http://interactive.ancestry.com/6224/45 ... turnRecord
BTW, I don't like the math - at all - when it comes to Nancy's age having Josephine. Hopefully, that's a mistake.
So much info to process...

Could you repost your links? The one you indicate is an Ellis Island manifest comes up as a 1920 Census
The 1893 doucment does not come up at all.
Once I have looked at the records, I can begin to look at the genealogical information you have posted.
EDIT TO ADD:
I located the 1912 Ellis Island manifest that you referenced for Ersilia and Ferdinando.
You may wish to look at it again...
Carlo Puccetti was the cousin they were LEAVING in Gallicano...
On the second page of the manifest, you will see that they are going to Ersilia's husband Giuseppe Saisi, 433 Fulton St., San Francisco.
Assunta Simonini is leaving nephew Carlo Puccetti in Gallicano, and going to SON Giovanni Simonini at 5354 Houston(?) St., S. Francisco. On page one her destination was amended to read "Ft. Bragg"
There are numbers written in the line for Ferdinando indicating he may have begun the naturalization process.
Here is the birth record in Gallicano for Ferdinando Saisi in 1897
Record #74 (bottom left of image)
Dated 17 July 1897 at 1:07 AM at the town office in Gallicano
Before the official appeared Leonilda Pellegrini, 53 year old midwife residing in Gallicano, to declare that on the 14th of the current month at the place in Gallicao at Via dellTremo(?) to a woman who does not wish to be named, was born a male child who was presented to the official and to whom was given the name FERDINANDO and the surname Saisi..
The notation in the left column under his name states that he is the legitimate son of married couple Vincenzo Saisi and Ersilia Simonini who were married in Gallicano on 1 December 1898, Act #23.

Hi, Anna-
Thank you for posting here. As you know, I have reached out to you via PM and we can explore the Pucetti/Saisi connection moving forward. However, in the meantime, I would ask both the kindly administrators and forum members here two Very Large favors first…
Sadly, Carol's father, Elio Lidio Alfredo Siasi ("Alfred" Saisi), recently passed away on Mothers Day (May 10, 2015). I'm putting together a written piece on him for funeral attendees (late next week) and have two rather large gaps in his parents' story:
1. I don't have the immigration record for Alfred's mother, Maria Isma Gilda Pelosi (referred to as "Gilda" in America). Purportedly, she would've arrived in 1915:
http://interactive.ancestry.com/6061/42 ... turnRecord
and
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... 1897926900
2. I don't have the U.S. marriage record (or perhaps the Italian atti di matrimonio) for Gilda Pelosi and Ferdinando Saisi, Alfred's father.
http://interactive.ancestry.com/7488/NY ... turnRecord
and
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... ,350142701
I do realize that, at age 14 and now in America, unless he somehow returned to Italy (I have no record of that), it's unlikely that Ferdinando married Gilda in Italy.
Would any of you kind folks here take pity on me and use your superb research skills, etc., to help me find this information, if at all possible? Alfred was such a sweet, sweet man. I would really appreciate being able to "round out" the arrival and union of his parents in my written piece.
With much gratitude…
Mark

Here is the link for Ermellina

At this point, the above record could be that of "Evilina" that you posted - OR - Teresa
Have not found any other children in the indexes...
Located the marriage of Vincenzo Pelosi and Maria Umiliana Pieri in February of 1880
Record #22 - right side

Not trying to resurrect this post but new information is coming to light to suggest a 20+ year timeline in the birth of the Pelosi siblings and makes sense to have some quick access to background info.
Recent correspondence with IG member "mjclayton1" has left me with a query about the birth date for Evelina. I am now convinced Evelina and Ermellina (Teresa) are not the same person but are sisters. Recent checks amongst US Census records and Immigration documents clearly show Evelina's birth year as 1901 a full 18 years after Ermellina's birth. Her birth place is recorded as Italy and immigration date of 1922 suggesting she spent a full 21 years in Italy at the turn of the century before leaving for a new life in for California.
Also looking purely at the birth timeline for Vincenco and Maria's children, it is apparent they were reasonably consistent, producing a child every couple of years on average
17 Nov 1880 (Giovanni Eugenio Alfredo Frediano)
30 Dec 1881 (Giovanni Giuseppe Armanno)
29 Aug 1883 (Ermellina Maria Teresa)
27 May 1886 (Maria Maddalena Erina)
26 Mar 1889 (Maria Oliva Isola)
25 Jun 1891 (Maria Emilia Edgive)
16 Jun 1893 (Maria Isma Gilda)
28 Jun 1895 (Giovanni Pietro Corrado)
23 Dec 1901 (Evelina)
However I notice a gap between Corrado Pelosi (1895)and his sister Evelina (1901) of almost six years, leaving the possibility that 2, or even 3 (although unlikely) other children could have been born. To answer whether these children survived or not is not crucial for me for now but I would like to rule out the possibility of additional siblings.
I am hoping you will undertake a quick check of the records you are able to access to see if any other siblings can be traced between 1896 and 1901.
Many thanks

Hello GT
I recall that I was not able to locate a birth for Evelina in 1901 because the online births for years 1900 - 1903 were missing...
I checked the indexes for years 1898 and 1899 and did not find additional siblings.
Will check 1896 and 1897 for you...

Hi Board
Thought I would provide an update on progress and extend my thanks to Marty and Tessa (and others) involved in a small success but a very very important one.
Following Marty's comments back at the beginning of this thread I managed to find further information on the final days of Renzo Andreoni. Alas as good as it is Google street just couldn't take me round the Bielany Cimitero Militare Italiano to get the confirmation I was looking for. However thanks to my son and his wife I now believe I have the missing piece.
The image below shows a list of the names etched onto the memorial at Bielany. Unfortunately it refers to a Reno not Renzo. A few further checks through http://www.difesa.it/Ministro/Commissar ... lture.aspx seems to support my claim that this is a spelling error.
In the image the names are listed in alphabetical order and prefixed by a short term - can anyone confirm what Mil. is short for (Military / Militia?) and how this differs for Sold.
Grazie tanto

Hi Lowhand-
Although I don't seem to recall ever seeing such a first name (is pretty cool, if I do say so myself), I can contact GeneTick and ask him if he's aware of a Tarquinio Andreoni. Although not so much this past year, we've collaborated a great deal over the past 2-3 years, so I should have no problem at all inquiring.
Do you have a DOB for this person? Parents, siblings or children? Let me know. The people here are absolutely incredible in their breadth of knowledge and uncanny ability to assist, but I also have a very good grasp of the Capannori records.
