Re: Census Issue

That's a tough one Alicia. Cant answer if NJ will be as tough as NY concerning a census. Give the number I provided a call, you never know.

Re: Census Issue

Drew,

Hope you don't mind, but since I've been 'kicked up' to her I m not sure if she would want me to give her number out.

But I'll be happy to give you the general number I originally called. The lady that will answer is the one that referred me to the supervisor. She is very helpful and if you ...

Re: Census Issue

As I originally posted, this was in NY and to prove that my ancestor did not naturalize. I provided all the other non-existence statements they ask for.

That they needed the census - that I was prepared for. But the first name issue I wasn't. Especially since the address on my father's BC exactly ...

Census Issue

Had my appointment in NY and everything was "in order" except for one issue concerning the 1940 Census extract I submitted (to help prove my GF did not naturalize) and my GFs first name.

My GF decided to use another first name - Americanized and completely different from his Italian birth name ...

Spouse Birth Certificate

I have a certified copy of my wife's Bolivian birth certificate I will be bringing to my interview in NY next month.

Does the consulate require it even though she will not be getting citizenship with me (we haven't met the three year marriage test quite yet)? And if so will it need an apostille ...

Re: Marriage- Divorce Document Translations

I guess I have 'certificate' stuck in the head as far as translations go.

Your right Mule' about the information pertained on the marriage license. But just because you have a license doesn't mean you got married. The marriage certificate proves the actual marriage took place. To play it safe I'll ...

Marriage- Divorce Document Translations

Does NY Consulate require translation of marriage license & certificate or just the certificate.

I also read on another post that a professional translator might be needed for divorce decrees. Is that the case?

Thanks to all.

Certificate Signatures

If I am unable to decipher some signatures of officials (attending physician, clerk etc.) on certificates for my translations will the NY consulate consider this a problem?

Thanks to all.

Document Translations

Does NY consulate require translation of legalize on the back of certificate? For instance, the Domestic Relations Law paragraphs on the back of my Grandparent's NYC marriage certificate. Or the Certificate security Features box on the back of my NYS birth certificate.

Thanks to all.

Name Discrepency

I'm sure this been asked before.

I'm heading to the NY consulate in a couple months for my appointment and I wasn't concerned before but now I'm second guessing seeing how picky NY is becoming.

My Grandfather's NYC marriage and NYS death certificate has his father's name as Joseph, while his ...

Vital Records for NY

Although I have seen these as requirements for some other consulates but not NY, I thought I would ask anyway because I'm getting paranoid the closer I get to my appointment.

Does NY require my divorce decree, marriage certificate, or the birth certificates of my spouse and children (under age 18 ...

Re: Declaration of living ascendant

The relationship with my father is what you would call 'estranged', so I'm fairly confident that a signature would not be forthcoming.

Its incredibly frustrating since I have complied all my certificates and documents and its the last requirement I need to meet before my appointment in a few months ...

Declaration of living ascendant

Iam not sure if this topic has been discussed before. But I'm just curious which Italian authority(s) a person would have gone or go to to renounce his/her Italian citizenship (outside of those who did so when they naturalized in the U.S. before dual citizenship was allowed). Wouldn't these ...
