Thank you for that! He was on about 90% of the documents that I scrolled through. I was starting to wonder if he was the officiant. Since these were records from the church, I wonder if he held a position there......He was mentioned in pages and pages of marriages.
Interesting.....

Marriage record translation help
I have been trying to translate some documents using an online translator, but it comes up as gibberish basically. Don't know what I'm doing wrong, because I can translate other items, such as the email from the Commune I received. Is there a difference in the language written by the priests in the ...

Baptismal Record translation help
Got this from some microfilm today. I have been successful in using an online translator as well as the book Finding your Italian Ancestors, but there are several words in this that have me stumped.
I can tell that he was baptized on 11 Sept 1898, born 7 Sept 1898 and named Salvatore, parents ...

Re: What can i expect from FHL?
I had ordered some films and was so excited when they came in, only to be let down. My local facility's machines did not have the ability to print or save to a usb or disc AND I could not read them at all. I knew they would be in italian and have the book mentioned above. That wasn't the problem ...

Re: Help reading an immigration record.
Thank you for doing that!
Yeah I wish I could figure out the friends name in Texas. I know our ancester ended up in Bessmay Texas, which is north of Houston, by 1923.
I thought if I could search for the friend, I may could find another clue.

Help reading an immigration record.
I have found this record through ancestry.com and it that has several pieces of information that I cannot read.
I think this may be my ancestors, but need to verify a few things. If anyone can see this and help me read it, I'd greatly appreciate it!
This is for Vincenzo and Salvatore Bentivegna ...

Well hello! Mike Bee, Virginia's brother, was my husband's grandfather. My mother in law is Janice Bee.
I started trying to do the family tree a few months ago. Not much to go on with Sam, but have found his parents names and where he was from. I've got more information on the Sacco side.

Re: Help with a last name please...
I will check out about the baptisms. Bessmay is a ghost town now. All civil records moved to Jasper County, will have to check on the church records. Thank you! That's something that I hadn't thought about.

Re: Help with a last name please...
Thank you all!
I have all the information of the 1930 census and have started gathering the birth certs for everyone. I had found his wife on a 1920 census (before they were married and she was with her parents) in Bessmay Texas. She showed as single. Their first son was born in 1923 in Bessmay, so ...

My ggrandfather is known to us as Sam Bee. He changed his name when he came to the US. There are no US records showing his Italian name. I have his birthdate, but just guessing that he was born in Corleone.
There are only 2 of his children left living, and they say they ...

Help with a last name please...
I got the death certificate of our ggrandfather and I was suprised that it has his parents name on it since he has been my biggest puzzle in our family.
The fathers name was listed as Charlie Bentvigenia, which we think may be misspelled and should be Bentivegna. (our ggrandfather changed his name ...
