Hi all,
Just wanted to keep you updated on a new and interesting development!
I finally received a file from USCIS (request submitted back in May). I had requested documents regarding Luigi (my ggf) and also Grazio (my gf).
In response, they sent me documents on Luigi's naturalization; documents ...

Re: A very odd jure sanguinis case. Help!
Says he's Italian, all right.
Huh. So where do I go from here?
Also, where can I get the certified form of both these documents (census and the ship form)?

Re: A very odd jure sanguinis case. Help!
I agree. I do know that Luigi (the ggf) came to the US before the rest of the family to work and "set up" for their arrival. I would not be at all surprised if what happened was that Luigi naturalized before they came. He then, I think, put their names down on the form saying they were resident in ...

Hi all,
Yes. In fact, I did more digging, and it looks like when my great-grandfather Luigi naturalized, his son Grazio (my grandfather) was in Italy. I say that because Luigi naturalized on January 30 1923 (and this is the document that lists his minor children, although it does NOT appear to say ...

A very odd jure sanguinis case. Help!
Hi everyone,
Apologies for inundating the board lately, but any advice/help would be truly welcomed! I have a bit of an odd family case, and I'm hoping someone could tell me if they think I'm eligible for jure sanguinis, father-->grandfather. N.B.: I'd be applying not through a US consulate, but at ...

Re: Index search request or record copy request from NARA?
Hi Johnny,
That's what I thought for years. But the fact that my grandfather got an Italian passport AFTER being listed as "naturalized" certainly gives me second thoughts... what could that mean other than that he was a dual citizen?
I had a meeting with an Italian immigration lawyer last week ...

Re: If I get citizenship, what about my dad?
I'd be applying to the Comune di Roma. Only just started gathering documents so a long way off yet, but as I was sending away for them, I was thinking gee... should I be asking for second copies for my dad too?
Wouldn't be hard for him to spend time in Rome. How would that help, though? He'd have ...

Interesting. Well, I actually live in Italy already -- in Rome. My dad lives in Florida, and his consulate would be Miami.
What do you think?

Index search request or record copy request from NARA?
Hi all,
I'm applying for citizenship via jure sanguinis, father-->grandfather. Background: My grandfather came to the US in 1923 at the age of 14. His father, who also came to the US, naturalized in 1923, and listed my grandfather as a minor on his certificate of naturalization. However, in 1924 ...

If I get citizenship, what about my dad?
Hi all,
Not to get too ahead of myself here, but I've started the long process to try to get my citizenship, and I had a question about my father.
I'm applying for jure sanguinis, through my dad-->grandfather. So I'm sending off for all of these various documents, but the thought occurred to me ...
