Re: Passport procedure at NYC Consulate

Hi Carmine,

I have a feeling you may be right about the Consulate jumping the gun. I was surprised to get the letter only two weeks after dropping off my birth certificate with the front desk. I didn't have a citizenship appointment. Both my parents are Italian citizens who never registered my ...

Passport procedure at NYC Consulate

I recently received the letter from the NYC Consulate stating I could come in for an Italian passport. I made an appointment, went in with the passport application but was told by the official I needed to wait 30 days to be granted the passport. It seems they need to fax my paperwork over to Italy ...

My Mom was finally able to get her passport renewed. She had to provide proof that she had custody of the children by submitting school records and other documents. Thanks for all the help!

My parents are Italian citizens and they never registered my birth certificate with the NYC Consulate. I tagged along with my Mom for an appointment at the Consulate and inquired about getting citizenship recognized if my Mom registered my birth certificate. Re: Difficulty renewing passport at Italian Embassy

Johnnyonthespot, thanks for all your help. My mom contacted the embassy in D.C. They put her in touch with someone at the NYC consulate who has been very helpful. It looks like she may have this issue resolved in a matter of a few weeks.

Re: Difficulty renewing passport at Italian Embassy

I've emailed the NYC embassy but they just refer me to their website. LOL. :)
I don't know why it didn't occur to me to contact another embassy for clarification. Thank you! :)

Re: Difficulty renewing passport at Italian Embassy

Johhnyonthespot, thanks for the info.

My Mom is stubborn and went back to the embassy again with hopes of getting somewhere. Even though the children are not listed on my mom's passport, they will not issue her a new one. According to the official, she needs my father's permission to renew/get a ...

Difficulty renewing passport at Italian Embassy

The Italian Embassy in NYC is making it difficult for my Mom to renew her Italian passport. She went there with all her documents only to be told that she needed my Dad's permission in order to renew her passport. Here's the big problem - my parent's have been separated for years and my Dad's ...
