Re: Having trouble locating my ancsetors

Hi Cousin!!

Always nice to hear from a Coriale descendant! My grandmother is Victoria Graziano Vedete was Catherine Coriale, I think my mom (marielena) refered to her as Kitty, first cousin. Her mother is Maria (Mary) Coriale Graziano. I remember Victoria Coriale Sansone and her brother Tony and ...

Italian WW1 Military Records

Hello -

I am hoping someone can lead me in the right direction. I have a gg Uncle who lived in Scandale, Italy during WW1. I recently received a picture of a male relative in an Italian WW1 uniform. I was told by a direct descent of my gg Uncle that he did not serve in the military. However the ...

Ancestors who returned to Italy

I have a gg uncle who came to America, only to return to Italy to marry. Than he and his bride returned to America, but ended returning to Italy to live permamently.

Recently ...

Re: Castagna, Italy

Wow! Thanks everyone!

So I didn't realize that Rafalle was his brother and not his cousin. For some reason, probably because I saw the word "cousin" and they weren't going to the same house I didn't make the connection.

So know that you all have connected the dots for me! As I understand it ...

Re: Sacco and Valotta

Thanks Douglas!

I will send you some information I have on my family tomorrow. I know Graziano is very common, I didn't realize Sacco was as well.

Talk to you soon!

Re: Castagna, Italy

Sorry Mj I just saw your post about the manifest. I will confirm that is the correct manifest for Santo. Thanks Tessa!

Here is Carmella's (Santo's sister's) manifest. She is last on the page.

Re: Castagna, Italy

Thank you!

I am sure it is Calabria. All of his records show him being born in Castagna. His draft registration for WWI lists Castagna, Catanzaro.

Here is my ggf info.

Castagna, Italy

I am wondering if any one knows if Castagna, Italy is/was an actual place in the Calabria region. It is the location of my great grandather's birth. I believe it may be or have been in the Province of Catanzaro. Anytime I have tried to research it I have come up empty.

I don't know much about my ...

Re: Sacco and Valotta

Hi Douglas,

I was wondering through the forum and noticed we shared a ancestral surname of Sacco in common. My great-grandfathers mother was named Maria Sacco. My ggf is Santo Graziano and he was born in Castagna, which I believe is or was a commune of Catanzaro. I can never confirm or deny it any ...

Re: Translation Help!!!!

I am glad to to have connected the dots on this mystery. Ironically I have a similar mystery on my non-Italian side as well with a ggm. Hopefully that one will come together too.

I agree the story, although sad, is special to me and is something I will record to share with future generations and ...

Re: Translation Help!!!!

Thanks again Tessa!

I forgot to mention that the birth date on the death certificate is Sept. 20, 1883.

The women married is the women who died. To much of a concidence for it not to be at least a possible set of parents for my GGM. I will never know the whole story, but I imagine that the ...
