Re: Finding the Death record of Giuseppe Campanelli from Grumo

I see that now. What is the word before "and"? Looks like figlio. What does that refer to?

Lo vedo ora. Qual è la parola prima "e"? Sembra figlio. Cosa si riferisce?

Re: Finding the Death record of Giuseppe Campanelli from Grumo

To add to the confusion, here is the actual death record of Antonia Misciagna: https://s9.postimg.org/eamw3wq5b/Misciagna_Antonia_d_1837.jpg Note that the death was reported by Vito Campanelli. It goes on to say that Vito is the son of Donato Cavalaggi. How can the son and the father have different ...

Re: Finding the Death record of Giuseppe Campanelli from Grumo

Yes, I am aware of Giuseppe's son in law, Vito Francesco Scarola who was married to his daughter Maria Campanelli. The wife's surname is the big problem, considering that she was still alive at the time of Giuseppe's death, her surname should have been known. Possibly, his wife was previously marrie...

Re: Finding the Death record of Giuseppe Campanelli from Grumo

I do not think that this Giuseppe Campanelli is him. The wife is wrong. His wife was Antonia Misciagna and she was still alive in 1832 (having died in 1837), so Giuseppe could not have re-married. I also am not aware of a son named Vito, though given that I have only found one child, that is certain...

Re: Finding the Death record of Giuseppe Campanelli from Grumo

Always possible, but given his wife and daughter both died in Grumo and he died sometime between their two deaths, it seems unlikely.

Finding the Death record of Giuseppe Campanelli from Grumo

Antonia Misciagna was the widow of Giuseppe Campanelli when she died at age 70 in Grumo Appula, Bari, Italy on June 25, 1837, record # 65. Therefore, her husband, Giuseppe Campanelli either died in 1837 or earlier. When their daughter Maria Campanelli died in Grumo on May 29, 1829 (record # 80), her...

Re: Who are the real parents of Evangelista Ninivaggi

Thank you. I think I have solved the Teresa Frizzale-Rifino puzzle. At that same address, four years apart, Teresa Frizzale, then Teresa Rifino gave birth with the same husband, Evangelista Ninivaggi. Neither died because records for Teresa Frizzale and Teresa Rifino continue afterwards. Therefore, ...

Re: American Military Records

Thanks again Tessa. Kind of sad that his listed emergency contact - his brother Gaetano Puma had died the year before of the Spanish Flu at age 33.

Biff, did my grandfather enlist or was he drafted? I thought that he was drafted.

Re: American Military Records

Tessa, is there a way to find out if this Salvatore Puma was ever found. If he wasn't found alive, then he cannot be my grandfather. I never heard of any stories that he was missing in action. Unfortunately, my grandfather never talked about his military service, and now it's too late for me to ask....

American Military Records

My grandfather, Salvatore Puma, served in the US Army during WW1. He fought the Germans in trench warfare in Argonne, France. He never talked about his WW1 service. His daughter told me today that he was shot in the leg during combat there and had a horrible scar from it. However, the military recor...

Marriage Record Translation

Please translate the key facts - names of bride and groom and relatives, date, apparently dates of death too, possibly of grandparents:
