Re: Italian using two last names from Agrigento / Maurici-Lino

When families grow very large for a surname, to distinguish the different family branches, a "nickname" is sometimes added. Sometimes these nicknames over time also become actual last names. The nickname may or may not have a meaning. In your case, Lino translates to linen, and may or may not refer ...

Re: Surname of bride and her mother

My bad! On the left, record # 31. That's the one you did. I thought maybe Sacco for the bride. There are only 128 Sano's in Italy, but over 4,000 Sacco's.

Blood Versus Marriage Relationships - Logically a Moving Target

When a man marries a woman, they share (or should share) no common ancestors and therefore are related only by marriage, not blood to each other and to each other's blood relatives. However, when they have a child, now each spouse has a common blood relative and so do each other's blood relatives. G...

Occasional Website Problem

Sometimes, I type up a new topic or a reply to an existing topic, hit Submit, and the next screen is blank - my comments are missing. It is as if I never submitted anything. When this happens, I go back to the last browser page (left arrow on the top left of the screen) and sometimes my comment will...

Re: 10 Year Index doesn't match to Record

The only possibility left is to find Antonio Rubino's parents would be to find his marriage record to Filomena Gentile. We think their oldest child was Felice Rubino and we think he was born in 1861. We think Antonio was born about 1830 (from unverifiable Ancestry.com hints).

Re: 10 Year Index doesn't match to Record

Thanks, Tessa. He must have either lived a long life or moved to another Comune. Did you discover any type of common "logic" as to how those records on the index and also by individual years were organized by Comune first, and type of event second?

Re: 10 Year Index doesn't match to Record

Tessa is correct. I had found the 5 year old's death so he can't be my Antonio Rubino. I've given up on it. Too much time spent already going through these byzantine records. Was trying to help out a distant relative.

Re: 10 Year Index doesn't match to Record

Thanks. I don't know the year of death. I just know that Antonio Rubino, husband of Filomena Gentile, was alive for his son's Felice Rubino's wedding to Antonia Cicerale on December 13, 1891 in Torremaggiore, Foggia (his wife was deceased). The real problem with the 10 year records is that instead o...

10 Year Index doesn't match to Record

For Torremaggiore, in the 10 year death index, Antonio Rubino died in 1894, record # 92. Here is that link: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G9Q7-BJ7K?i=3120&cat=124484 When I went to record # 92, the death record was for a different person.
