Hi-
Did anyone ever respond to you about this? My grandfather was born in NYC in 1908 and his last name was spelled incorrectly on the birth certificate. When I contacted the NYC Dept of Health about correcting it I got the same response you did...BUT...I requested a NYC No Change letter from the ...

Re: Born out of wedlock Italian Citizenship
Ok now I understand the question.
My mother's first husband is dead, so it would be impossible for me to get a statement or DNA. My mother's second husband, my biological father adopted me in 1970 in order to change my name to his. I have a certified copy of my adoption record. In your opinion ...

Born out of wedlock Italian Citizenship
Hi Everyone
I had my citizenship appointment and all of my documents were accepted. I am going through my mother. The consulate has now come back and is seeking clarification on an issue. So here goes:
My mother was separated (not divorced) from her first husband when she met my father. She then ...

Re: 1930 Census list my GGfather as an alien
Hi Everyone-
I will be going to Caggiano Italy in May to visit the hometown of my grandparents. I am looking for their birth and mariage records. I know their birthdates and mariiage dates. I searched extensively on the internet and have had no luck. Where do I go in Caggiano to research in person ...

Re: 1930 Census list my GGfather as an alien
Carmine-
Thanks for the clarification. I knew I may not be eligible on my father's side of the family, which is why I am looking at my mother's side. While I still believe that my maternal GGrandparents never became citizens, I would still be eligible if they naturalized after 7/1/1912, as my ...

Re: 1930 Census list my GGfather as an alien
Thanks everyone-
First off I have to say that was typo in the name. It is Carucci, so Carmine, you are correct. And yes, John did die in 1933 in Hackensack.
So now I have a question. On my father's side of the family, my ggrandfather Nicholas Annitti (Annit, Jannitti, Annit) was born in Italy and ...

1930 Census list my GGfather as an alien
I am just starting my quest into gaining dual citizenship and I believe I am eligible. In the 1930 census my GGfather and GGmother are listed as aliens. This is the earliest census I can find them in. They arrived in 1898 and 1902 respectively. How do I go about proving they were never naturalized ...

Great Grandmother listed as a male
I found my great grandmothers name on a ship's manifest with all of her children travelling with her. It lists her as a male and a farmer and the eldest daughter is listed as a male as well. Anyone know a reason for that? Her father-in-law was also travelling with her and he is listed as a famer and ...
