Success! We did it! Got the letter last week.
But a word to those waiting... it did not happen for us until we wrote an email to the city hall of the commune asking for an update on the status of the application. We just wrote to the same person who sent us Grandpop's birth record a couple years ...

Re: How long after consulate appt. might we hear back?
Thanks, jennabet. I'm sure we'll figure it out. We don't even have the passports yet so I'm putting the cart before the horse.

Oh the stamp has to do with taxes? Not with travel per se?

Re: How long after consulate appt. might we hear back?
Thank you again!
I know we can get the codice fiscale and that passport at the consulate. I think we also need to get a stamp in the passport every year? Do I have that right? Where do we get that? I've heard we can get the first one at the consulate when we get the passport, and then subsequent ...

Thanks for that reply! Very interesting. Lucky your guy is Italian too. :D :P
Couple more quick questions I hope you don't mind.

Re: How long after consulate appt. might we hear back?
Thank you so much for your replies. I decided to take matters into my own hands and write to the commune as it has been about 7 months since papers were sent. I got a reply back within one hour saying everything is complete and they have let the philly consulate know. So I guess we will be getting ...

Re: A Poll - Where was your appt / how long until notificati
My appointment was in Philadelphia in December 2012.
The wait for an appointment in Philly is almost a year.
Still waiting to hear results of application.

A Poll - Where was your appt / how long until notification
This is an informal poll for anyone who has been successful in getting citizenship via Jure Sanguinis or the like.
What consulate did you apply at?
How long did you wait for your initial appointment?
How long after your final appointment did you hear about the success/failure of your application?

How long after consulate appt. might we hear back?
We had our appointment at the Philly consulate last fall. The woman we met with told us in February that his paperwork was sent to Italy in January.

Re: certified certificate of citizenship from 1935
Okay, so the Eastern District Court clerk's office in Philly says they would not have the certificate of naturalization. They said I have to go through USCIS and ask for a "duplicate" with the seal, not a copy. I'm not sure if I can do that. The USCIS web site seems to indicate that getting a "true ...

Re: certified certificate of citizenship from 1935
Thank you both very much. I called the mid Atlantic office of NARA and they are searching for the Declaration and the Petition. They say if they have it, they can send me certified copies. They say they would not have the certificate of citizenship and do not really know where I can get it. They did ...

So... can anyone tell me exactly how to obtain CERTIFIED or AUTHENTICATED copies of my grandfather's citizenship papers?

Comune di Viggiano
Ufficio Anagrafe
OGGETTO: Estratto di nascita di DIGIUSEPPE Michela
Da ricerche effettuate dai registri di Stato Civile di questo Comune, dal 1874 al 1879, non risulta l'atto di cui all'oggetto.
Does this mean they have no record of Michela's birth?
Thanks -Grazie
