Re: Strange Occupation on Death Certificate from 1837 MACCHIA VALFORTORE
A special hello to "suanj" who last year helped me solve the mystery of the unknown biological father of my grandfather who was a magistrate in Casacalenda and to whom a DNA link was found through the company 23andMe and their DNA relatives section. I have since discovered many records from this ...

Strange Occupation on Death Certificate from 1837 MACCHIA VALFORTORE
I am unable to figure out what the profession of my 3x great-grandfather Nicolangelo De Simone (born circa 1773) means on this death record. In all his children's birth certificate it was 'di professione Usciero' or 'Usciero Comande'. On this death record it appears even more specific?
Also, if ...

Translation help-neat writing but I'm still not sure
Hello...this is the birth record page of my great-grandmother, Petronilla Palma (#60 bottom left). Is her father's name Epifavio? Does such a name exist in the past? Is her mother's name Caterina Luciani? Any help with the most important details (date: July 20, 1873?, names, ages of parents) would ...

Re: The Casacalenda Mystery Has Been Solved
Hello again Raffaela...I want to tell you that the name you found for the magistrate/judge, Nicolangelo De Simone, is the biological father of my grandfather Raffaele. We know that for certain now because family members (myself, my father, and 2 brothers) have had our DNA tested by the company ...

Re: A Casacalenda Mystery That Needs Solving
Once again Raffaela, I want to thank you for the help you have offered. I think you are right that it is too difficult to connect the photo unless I was able to find his descendants. I am told that the name De Simone is very common in Italy, so I may never find the answer.

Re: A Casacalenda Mystery That Needs Solving
Oh, my goodness...I feel so foolish...the year was 1887. I can't believe I didn't notice even when Joann questioned it.
Ok...so I'm looking for a person who was working as a judge in the area of Casacalenda and lived with his family in Casacalenda in the 1880's. Apologies. for the confusion by my ...

Re: A Casacalenda Mystery That Needs Solving
Yes, that's my grandfather's birth year Joann. So his biological father (the great-grandfather whose name I am seeking) was a judge who lived with his family in Casacalenda at that time, whether he worked elsewhere though is unknown to me. My grandmother was a servant in his household in her mid ...

A Casacalenda Mystery That Needs Solving
A Judge/Magistrate in the town of Casacalenda is the biological father of my grandfather. My great-grandmother was a servant for the judge's family at the time he got her pregnant and she was subsequently asked to leave. She gave birth to my grandfather on May 20, 1987 in Campobasso. She gave him up ...

Hello Livio...is it permitted to send you hugs and kisses? Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this translation. I am delighted to read this information. On my grandfather's mausoleum burial place, it is given that his birthdate was May 28 1887, while other Italian records found online give ...

Birth Record for a child given up to foster care parents
My grandfather, Raffaele, was given the name Barbarossa by the civil authorities. He later was reclaimed by his unmarried mother, Lucia, who was able to prove he was her biological son. She knew the foster parents who lived in the same town that she took employment after his birth. The family has ...
