My direct descendent is Cecilia Miraula, son of Nicolo, a sister of Domenico/Damiano. She married Salvatore Zito my g-grandfather.
Anyone have further info?
Thanks!

Re: Why are Southern Italians darker than Northern Italians?
Very interesting! I have some Arberesh ancestory about 4 generations or 5 back. My dad had the gorgeous smooth, olive skin (not me, unfortunately), lighter brown eyes, about 5'9" or so, a longer and narrower face than most of his siblings. He and a couple of others take after the Zarcone side (they ...

Arberesh surnames
I have some Arberesh surnames in my heritage (over 4 or 5 generations back). I would like to know what they originally were before they were Italianized--if possible. Unfortunately, the Arberesh board is closed, so I am hoping someone here would be able to help me.

Surname Miraula
This is the surname that goes back the furthest (born in 1670) in my tree from Piana Degli Albanesi.
However, it is hard finding info on it--so many different spellings! What would be other common spellings for the same name? It was my great-grandmother's name (Cecilia b. 1864).
Any ideas?
