Re: Newark Appointment -- NYC Translation Certification?
Finally received my documents! I emailed the citizenship office at the 6 week point asking for a status update, and the next day my credit card was charged. 5 days later (today) I got the certifications in my self-addressed fedex envelope. All the translations were approved, and they charge 8.27 EUR ...

Re: Newark Appointment -- NYC Translation Certification?
I'm an undergrad at Columbia so I'm pretty close... but I don't know how helpful a visit would be, considering that the first time I went there I helplessly confused the receptionists with what I needed for my documents.. they tried giving me AIRE forms to fill out, passport forms, richieste di ...

Re: Newark Appointment -- NYC Translation Certification?
It's been five weeks and I haven't heard anything... starting to get anxious here. I'm trying to resist emailing the consulate because I don't want them to get annoyed and take longer!

Re: Newark Appointment -- NYC Translation Certification?
How far out is your appointment? I mailed my docs to them 2 weeks ago and still have not heard anything from them. I am not sure if it is typical for them to take this long or if there is a problem. I do not want to start making inquires in fear that they will move me further down in the pile ...

Re: down to the wire!
Haha yeah, I figured out who you were by your name "williamsburger" and your appointment date.. I remembered you said it was in late August. I still have to wait four months, mine is December 27th.

I don't know how to post attachments on here so I just copied and pasted it from the word document. If you want the actual .doc, PM me your email address and I'll send it to you.

Re: down to the wire!
I hope you're able to get the NYC translations verified while you wait.. I got this email back from the NY consulate when I asked about verifications:
-----
1) come in at our Office - Monday through Friday except on Wednesdays from 9:00-12:00 - providing:
- original Long Form certificate ...

Re: translations!
I'm glad to hear that Gabriella's translations are accepted in Newark! And wow, that verification would be really expensive since I would have about 20 pages from NYC including a name change order.

Re: translations!
Again, my case might be an anomaly, as my translations were not accepted by Newark. So it may be that it's the translations, and not simply the certs themselves, that are in need of consular authentication.
