Re: Liste di Leva for Campobasso
I'm sorry, no. Maria would have been about a generation older than Gabriele who was born in 1869. I knew Gabriele was born and lived in Conca Casale but documents said "Pozilli" which puzzled me. It turned out that Conca Casale didn't have a town government at that time and was considered a village ...

Re: Liste di Leva for Campobasso
Thank you, for that information. But I do have a date when he was definitely in France and I might not need to go to the trouble of contacting them at all if it falls within the time he should have been serving. I'll know that he didn't serve. But I need to know how long the military service period ...

Re: Liste di Leva for Campobasso
Gabriele left Italy for France at some point. I'm trying to find out when. I had hoped to see if he had served in the military online, but if I know how long a drafted man had to serve, it might rule out his service and make contacting the Archivio unnecessary.
Thank you for any help.

Thank you for your help.
Would you know how long the young men were required to serve when they were called up for military service at age 17?

Re: Liste di Leva for Campobasso
Thank you for the reply. I went to the Archivio di Stato di Isernia site but was unable to navigate it - my Italian is extremely basic. I've searched a liste di leva in Salerno and could do the work if I can get to the correct web site. A link would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Liste di Leva for Campobasso
Hi, I'm looking for any military records for Gabriele Prete who was born on September 16,1869 in Conca Casale/Pozzilli, Campobasso. Would anyone have the address of the web site of the Campobasso Liste di Leva?
Thanks for any help!

Re: Churches in Angri and Sant' Egidio del Monte Albano
Point taken, PippoM. :) I'm afraid I'm thinking of the area as it was over 100 years ago when my grandmother lived there.
When I saw that my great grandparents' street led to Piazza San Giovanni Battista and that church was only a two minute walk from their home, I thought I had their parish church ...

Re: Need Help With Birth Record
Thank you so much Angela! All this information! I'll have to double check, but I saw Piazza San Giovanni on the map - very close to their address - so San Giovanni Battista is probably their parish.
I thought all communes had put their records online the way Angri has. I found out how wrong I was ...

Re: Need Help With Birth Record
I'm trying to determine to which parish my grandmother's family belonged. Would someone be able to decipher the family's address so I can see if it's close to a particular church? I'd also appreciate her mother's age. I'm seeing Carmela de Vivo, 20. Is that correct?
Thanks for any help.

Thank you, mmogno, I appreciate your help!
I wasn't expecting that many churches in two small villages! Is there any way to find out how old these parishes are? Santa Maria di Constatinopoli looks modern, but may have replaced an older church. I'll have to find out where the family lived to see ...

Re: What Are Entries After Birth Records?
Are these entries not "official" Birth Records? I'm afraid I can't read them, and am wondering if they are records of children born elsewhere. For instance, if a family moved to Salerno to find work, and a child was born there, it's official Birth Record would be in Salerno. But if the family felt ...

Churches in Angri and Sant' Egidio del Monte Albano
Are there churches in these villages? Is there a way to request records from churches?
