Thank you both, this is wonderful information.
I've had no luck on Google Books so far, but I will keep trying with different spellings. If I do find him, what record do I request from the Archivio di Stato?

Translation Help - Birth Record for Antonio Nardi
Hello all,
I have attached a portion of the birth record for my 2nd GGF, Antonio Nardi. He was born in a tiny village called Ciano in 1869. I understand the basics - his father was Stefano Nardi (son of Vincenzo? what is the next word?), 43 years old. His mother was Catarina Costa, daughter of the ...

Have you tried John? Perhaps Gianflavio > Gianni > John?

Re: Pasquale Sansone Birth Record Assistance
Thank you. That confirms what I thought. I read the name as "Sanzone" instead of "Sansone" too, but I know that an "s" can resemble a "z" at times so I wasn't sure.
Was this kind of variation in spelling of surnames common in this era?

That is very helpful advice, thank you. I would much prefer copies, I just did not know the correct terminology for what I was looking for.

Re: Help with response from Archivo di Stato di Benevento
I used a slightly modified version of the letter on Il Circolo Calabrese. I said this:
"Vi sarei molto grato se poteste spedirmi l'estratto dell'atto di nascita di Pasquale Sansone, in carta libera. Nato il 13 febbraio 1861."

suanj,
Thank you! This is very helpful information. Do you happen to know if the Archivo di Stato in Benevento holds the records for Guardia Sanframondi past 1860? I wrote to them to ask, but I have not yet received a response. Should I be writing to the Ufficio Dello Stato Civile in Guardia ...

Re: Sansone family from Guardia Sanfromondi
It was stated above that the records in Guardia Sanframondi are limited. Does that mean it would not be worth my while to write to the Ufficio dello Stato Civile? I have a letter drafted in an attempt to obtain Pasquale's birth record. Would another approach be recommended?
