So to-date all , that have tested positive for haplogroup J-A457 are from northern Italy or have ancestors from there.

Another J-A457+ individual : Penzo has tested for Big Y and his results will be in hopefully by next weekend.

Hello everyone, my father is A457+ too and our most remote known ancestor is my ggfather, born in Venice in 1864. I'm looking forward to finding other testers and digging deeper about our lineage!

In the last few days 52 downstream SNPs have been added to the SNP tree below A457.

The Big Y results of another individual , that is A457+ will be in by next week or so.

the entry ,that caught my attention was dated 1645 and it was a marriage between a Konstantis G ( G= a variant of the first name giorgio ) and a Maroula Drag(h)ia daughter of Piero.

Correction :
The date above should be 1646 and in November of that year.

Giovanni and Cristodalo.


I must mention, that these two didn't acquire Cretan noble status and Prof. Papadaki's paper was about Cretan nobility.
