Re: Legalised and Translated Documents UK - Italian Citizenship by Descent
In general the details about the documents needed can be found on the website of the competent consulate, as they may slightly vary from a Country to another. You are a British citizen, living in the UK, asking Italian citizenship by descent from an Italian citizen? I'll look for details and I'll po...

Re: Marriage days and signature query
Only in 1929 the rules changed with an agreement between the Kingdom of Italy and the Holy See, the cerimony in the church being celebrated by the pastor also as civil official, including both religious and civil marriages. The marriage act is then sent to the comune and copied in a section of the r...

Re: Marriage days and signature query
However it's easy to verify, you may compare a civil marriage act with the corresponding church marriage and see the dates.
The church marriage should be asked at the parish, sometimes at the diocese archive.
Certain parish registers may be online on Family Search or orher sites.

Re: Marriage days and signature query
Hi Nick. As said by others, in that time civil marriage and church marriage were completely independent and I think that a couple with only the civil marriage was very rare. I don't know which was celebrated first and if the same day or not. (It is possible the use was different in the various regio...

Re: requesting church records from italy , is there a good form letter?
If you need for italian citizenship the certificate is signed by the parish priest, then sent to the Cancelleria of the Diocesi to be legalized.
(in some dioceses it's made directly by the diocese).
In the US I think you need also an apostille, someone else will know better.

Re: Woman's Latin name format in church records
Yes, when there is "in" it is a correct indication of the two surnames, the first at birth, the last is the husband's. But I don't think you find this on church acts in Latin, you may find it on contracts or a declaration, in Italian. There is also a reverse format, Surname1 nata Surname2,...

Re: Looking for the birth certificate of Jose Chiribelo
Should be Ciribello (there is also
Ciribelli), both very rare surnames, if you find a place of origin, i think you certainly may find your relatives in Italy

Re: variations of a given name
Documents of Italy or USA?
Also in Italy it was possible that a person with even 3 or 4 names at the birth, later used only one or even two in different moments, such as marriage or child birth.
This may make difficult to verify if it is always the same person.

Re: Question about Ancestor’s Citizenship
Please explain. You refer to an ancestor born in Italy or in USA? If in Italy and son of unmarried parents it seems unusual there were the names of both parents on the birth certificate, more usual only one and, if they married later, the child was legitimized and took the surname of the father. ___...

Try if you find that ship and trip on Family Search ( not very easy to browse)

It seems other documents of the National Archive have been recently published, but I don't know the details.

Re: Question on Late Marriage Year
In Northern Italy (and particularly in Lombardia) I never saw this.
All were married with a civil marriage and of course also in the church.
What I don't know is which marriage was made first, but certainly very near in time, if not the same day.
