Re: Migration within Southern Italy
Thanks for confirming my suspicion that those would be useful records. However, I'm having trouble accessing the processetti for Buccino (both 1828 and 1841) - many of the pages do not load (instead, I get "platform error" which hasn't resolved in any of my tries over the last two days). Nonetheless ...

[Translation request] Documents presented during marriage
I'm looking into my Lisanti relatives in/around Potenza and am having trouble reading the information about the following two marriages:
1) The marriage between Francesco Lisanti and Margarita Lioy in 1828, Avigliano . It seems that 6 documents were presented, the first two of which I can read ...

Re: Migration within Southern Italy
Thank you for that information - I didn't think to check that information and the list of records shown (often the 2nd or 3rd page of the marriage record)! I found a marriage between Nunzio's son Pietroantonio in Buccino in 1841 that lists the death records of groom's parents (and bride's parents ...

Migration within Southern Italy
I previously made a post asking about my Lisanti ancestors from Potenza and received a lot of useful information. However, I was still unable to find the birth record for my g-g-grandfather Gerardo Lisanti and his father Donato, either in Potenza (comune) or Avigliano (where Donato was listed as ...

Re: DeSena; accidental death in Brooklyn, 1917
Apologies for my very delayed response - I am a PhD student, so things get quite busy at times. Thank you Pippo and Tessa for finding these records! There was an address listed on the 1911 death certificate for their daughter that is different from where they were living when Antonio (the father ...

Re: DeSena; accidental death in Brooklyn, 1917
Thank you T.! I had not seen either of those records (and didn't even know that their was a "first" Filomena, who sadly passed).

Re: DeSena; accidental death in Brooklyn, 1917
Wow, that is an excellent find - I've never seen that before! According to the his possible 1905 census record, his age is 25 and is listed as being in the U.S. for 15 years, so if we're generous with the exact ages/durations, his arrival in 1891 at around 13 years of age makes sense. I will look ...

Hi PippoM,
Yes, I have seen that and meant to include that link, too. But thank you for searching for it and posting it!

DeSena; accidental death in Brooklyn, 1917
I'm looking for more information on my great-great grandfather, Antonio/Antimo Desena (different records show one of those two names), who was born in Italy (approx. 1877), and settled in Brooklyn, New York sometime before 1900. I have no definitive record of him before his death in 1917. The one ...

Re: Lisanti in Potenza
Thank you both, Angela and darkerhorse, for all of your help in this process. I'm definitely closer to an answer than I previously was! I'm going to follow your suggestions, and keep trying to find Gerardo's records and those of his parents.

Re: Lisanti in Potenza
And here are the three [Rosa/Anna] Maria Zaccagnino found in Avigliano around the expected time, given her listed age in the birth records of Gerardo's siblngs. The two Rosa Maria's (both born in 1836) are more likely, but you also pointed out that her name also included Anna in at least one record ...

Re: Lisanti in Potenza
You are very welcome for the help. I could see you and Darkerhorse were having problems navigating and reading the records and as I had some time yesterday was able to help. I'm on my way out shortly but will try and answer your questions later.
Excellent, thank you! I hope my answers/documents ...

Re: Lisanti in Potenza
Thank you very much for all of this research - this is great information! I was able to find a few more siblings of Gerardo born in Potenza (1860, 1863), meaning his siblings were born in 1860, 1863, 1867, 1869, 1871, 1876, and 1879. Unfortunately, I am still unable to find Gerardo Lisanti as having ...

Re: Lisanti in Potenza
I had also looked for the birth record of Bartolomeo but I failed to find it.
Is it possible they lived in a different town in the province before living in the town of Potenza?
Have you found their marriage record (Donato and Rosa)?
Unfortunately, I've had the same inability to find ...

Re: Lisanti in Potenza
Of course, I wish it were so, too! This might be a useful check - I know he has a brother born in 1871 named Vincenzo. There's a Vincenzo Lisanti in the 1871 Potenza birth records (attaching here). I'm having difficulty reading the handwriting, but perhaps you or someone else who sees this record ...
