If you feel the Lowry is a translated name the only eqwuivalent that comes to mind is a phonetic LAURI and is mere speculation on my part, Usually surnames remain the same but sometime they change. In any event in Italy all family, documents and family history are in the town of origin. So if you wish to explore you can go to www.paginebianche.it and fill in the 1st line with a surname and third line with a town or initials for a province which is SA for salerno as an instance. and then click CERCA for any listing. 54 out of a total of 83 currently reside in the four provinces of Campania. The provinces are Salerno, Napoli, Caserta and Avellino. There is no majority in any of the provinces sdo any one of the four may relate should you find that the Lowry/Lauretano is the correct original surname. Peter
