Italian Passport Application in London

Hi, I have managed to get together all the documents I think I need to apply for an italian passport for me, and my children and possibly my husband. My father was Italian and I have managed to get his marriage certificate, birth certificate and death certificate, but I have no idea how I need to go about applying for the passport at the embassy. No one answers my emails and I understand from other websites that I have looked at that they dont answer phones or dont speak much English. I hold a British passport but want to get an Italian one as well in case I ever decide to move there. Can anyone tell me what I need to do. Thanks Claudia

Claudia, since your father was italian, did he ever naturalized as a citizen of the contry where he emigrated?
If yes I hope he naturalized after you were born

Father: Your father was an Italian citizen at the time of your birth and you never renounced your right to Italian citizenship. If citizenship is acquired by birth in your country and you meet all these conditions, you qualify for Italian citizenship jure sanguinis. You must obtain certified copies of the following documents:

Your father's birth certificate from Italy.
Your mother's birth certificate
Your parents' marriage certificate (If they were married in your native country, you will need an apostille and a translation into Italian.)
Your parents' divorce decree/certificate, if applicable (with apostille and translation)
Your father's certificate of naturalization OR statement of "No Records" OR Alien Registration Card - Green Card
Your birth certificate (with apostille and translation)
Your father's death certificate, if applicable (with apostille and translation)
Your mother's death certificate, if applicable
Your marriage certificate, if applicable (with apostille and translation)
Your divorce decree/certificate, if applicable (with apostille and translation)
Your spouse's birth certificate, if applicable
Birth certificates for all your children under the age of eighteen, if applicable (with apostille and translation)

All Certificates: must be new “CERTIFED COPIESâ€

Hi Riccardo

Although my father lived for over 40 years in England, he never became a citizen of England and always kept his Italian Citizenship. Once I have all the relevant certificates do I need to make an appointment at the Italian Embassy in London or can I just turn up. Its about a 3 hour journey for me and I have young children so its a bit of an ordeal!

Sorry Riccardo, just reread your reply and have seen that I do need translations.

Yes, you need to translate your British civil records, and you need to prrof that your father never naturalized as UK citizen.
If he died in UK you need to send a request to that UK government office that issued and keeps the copies of naturalization papers.
If he died in Italy, you just need to send a request to the civil record office where he died, to have a certificate that he was an italian citizen until his death
