Post by kemz »

Hello my name is Karen I have been trying to help my husband find out more about his heritage. any information I could get would be great I would like to surprise him.

I was looking at some of the paper work I have found.

My husbands name is Michel J. Zito

from the old marriage license's I have found:

Vincent's father and mother
Joseph Zito married Elisabeth Avigliano 2-2-30 (Elisabeth's name some time was changed to Elizabeth)

Elisabeth's Parents
Mike Avigliano
Antonietta Lamonaco

Joseph's Parents
Pasquale Zito
Martara Torrana

Elisabeth Avigliano Mother
Pasquale Bruce married Antonietta Avigliano 2-11-1918

Antonietta's Parents
Emmanuele Lamonaca

Pasquale's Parents

They are from Italy and settled in San Francisco, Ca I also know that Joseph Zito was born in Calabria, Italy.

Thank You

Welcome to IG!! Can you tell us what US records you have collected so far? That way we don't duplicate research and can provide you with new records and leads!!

The main records I have is what my husband has that was his father's. I have a few other things like when they went through classes to become US citizens. Other than that I really have nothing. I've tried to do a search online and I come to a stop.

I can find things like when Michael's father was born and passed away I can find the same thing for his Nonna but nothing for his Nonno. I tried a few times at the library but no luck. I am probably not looking things up the correct way. I'm lost to what to do to help him. My family has a genealogy book that list's most of the information and I haven't had to look.

I will ask my husband to see what else he can remember.

Thank You
Karen

Thank you so much for you help )

I talked with my husband he said that the name Felice Zito sounds fimilar but not the name Giuseppe Zito. He also said he thinks his father told him once that long time ago it might have been spelled Zita but many changed it to Zito because of it being to feminine.

He also said his nonno was born in 1899. but the age difference between his nonno and nonna you have listed would be correct and that the dates you have for her is correct so it is possible they had the date for his nonno wrong. I'll see what else I can find in the paper work.

Once again thank you very very much. I will also take a look at the sites that you have listed.

kemz,

You mentioned you had attempted researching with no luck because you thought you were doing it incorrectly. Perhaps if you can explain what the problem you're having is and on what sites you have already looked we can explain how to use the search engines. We can also offer you a list of sites that you may want to try if you would prefer researching yourself..eliminates us from posting records for the wrong family and provides a greater sense of satisfaction for yourself. Otherwise we can continue in this format and let you choose the info that is useful to you.

You make the choice..LOTS of members here that are experts in several different areas of the research process so please feel free to let us know how you would like to proceed.
