Census Help

Post by nsicignano »

Other then Ancestry world. How can I view Italian census records or find out if there were any without going to Italy? Is there an Italian database that I could access?

I am hoping to find a census record for Pasquale Matteo Sicignano or Matteo Pasquale Sicignano born July 22 1880 in Gragnano, Napoli, Campania. In hopes that it will reveal more info on his father, Francesco Sicignano and Maria Assunta Malafronte.

Anything helps. Thanks

Census taken from 1871 to 1901 are inconsistent and varied from region to region and limited to name and number in household. census records from 1911 on up, however, have names, ages, occupations, birthplaces and relationship to head of household. These census records are found inthe Comune UFFICIO ANAGRAFE along with UFFICIO DI STATO CIVILE (FOR BMD DOCUMENTS) and in the State archives in each province. =Peter=

You can send form letters in Italian for census information at the following website http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html
