Writing letter to Italy
I found just writing in English was easy because someone can translate for a realitve that does not speak english. If you just give them your name, who you are related to, that person related to the next and so on and make the letter simple and easy to understand. Then you might get a letter back. Some times it takes awhile so don't get too worried if you don't get anything back.

English is rthe second language in Italy so school kids can help out but if you wish you can go to www.freetranslation.copm and they do professional translation at low rates, so they say. Peter
