Hi Laura
,
You're right! This is wonderful news.
I'm so glad that they continue to work on the Italian municipal records.
The only microfilm available for Castellammare di Stabia is for 1900-1929

Re: Castellammare di Stabia records
Well, working through the indexes and found a bunch. Cleared up a lot of stumbling blocks for me. Found births, deaths and marriages for those I did not have any information.
It seems asking for a search of a death unless you know the date is fruitless. But now, I have that information and can write for the extracts. Wish I could have actual copies which give a good deal more info.
Thank you again,
lilbees

Hey lilbees!
That's terrific that you found some records!
I'm a bit confused tho, after the indexes I thought they included the actual records. In the birth section you have to scroll thru the indexes first to get to the records organized by years.
Aren't the records you're looking for there?
Thanks!

Re: Castellammare di Stabia records
Hi Valerie, the only thing are the indexes. No actual records. At least I have Registry #'s and dates. I had names but did no good without the dates to send for records. I did find the newer indexes only had the name/paternity. Not even a date, only the year and registry #.
You also can't put in a number and go to it. You have to click to each page one at a time. Going to the letter B wasn't bad but most of what I was looking for was in the R's. A lot of clicking. Don't get me wrong, I really don't mind at this point. It is more than I have had in a long time.
One of the first names in the index I found was one of my great uncles who passed away in 1880. He was married in 1869. So I spent a lot of time going through birth records to see if he had had any children. Great luck with that. I was thrilled. (His wife died in 1881)
So on with more searches.

Re: Castellammare di Stabia records
Hi Valerie, I stand corrected about the actual records being after the indexes. Always pays to scroll further..............
Question? The books without indexes, do you know if they are included in the files or will they come later. I noticed some years for all the categories are missing or not listed.
Have my fingers crossed if they are coming. I have been going through not just the indexes but also going record by record knowing at times some are missed in the indexes. But, with some entire years missing?
I would address this directly but do not know how. Since you are so informed about what is going on I have faith you will find out.
Thank you so much.

Re: Castellammare di Stabia records
Hi lilbees!
Here's the description of the collection:
https://wiki.familysearch.org/en/Italy, ... al_Records
It appears to be done (the ones that aren't usually state "XX% complete")
I don't see a link to ask questions about the collection ...
Maybe the 'feedback' or 'help' button in the upper right hand corner of this screen?
