looking 4 my ancestory:Canu/Yodice, from sardinia & flor

I am new to this site, and i am only just starting out, trying to put together, a family tree....i know very little...my father is an only child and both his parents, are no longer alive, so gathering this information, is difficult...and i dont know how else to obtain it....i know my grandfather's name was John Canu, from sardinia, and my grandmother' s name was Elizabeth Yodice (i was named after her) from Floris....and thats about it...we dont know past that....so any help or guidence what so ever would be appreciated thanks so much....[/b]

Hi : you can search on www.ellisisland.org the names of your ancestors: Giovanni Canu and Elisabetta Yodice (or Jodice or Iodice). Floris town not exist, exist FLORINAS town(Sassari province-Sardegna region). Probable also Giovanni(John) Canu coming from Florinas...
On ellis island are many record for Giovanni Canu, but for just search ..it must know year of emigration...you can to use also this website for better search http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/EIDB/ellis.html
