expired certificate

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

expired certificate

Post by ccam »

I traveled to Sicily to obtain my great grandfather's birth certificate when I did not receive it by mail. However, I just noticed that it is stamped in Italian that it is only valid for 180 days after receipt. My appointment with the NY Consulate is in September, way after the certificate expires. I explained my situation and tried to obtain an earlier appt, but was unsuccessful. I just wrote to Palermo for a new copy, but not sure if they will send it as they told me there was no record the first time but I included a copy of the certificate this request.

Has anyone presented expired documents to the consulate and it was a problem? If they require a new certificate, will I have to wait for a new appt. or will I be able to send in the document as soon as it is received?
