orphan birth records
How do you find information on a birth record for orphan ancestor born in Meliccuca, Calabria, Italy and who adopted the child?

Re: orphan birth records
If a "true" orphan, meaning his/her parents died and the child was placed in an orphange or with adopted parents (as opposed to a foundling who was given up by unidentified parents...), then why not just write to the comune and request the birth act as you would for any other child?
I would expect that the act will contain annotations regarding the later adoption, if any.
