I have been attempting to get documents for 2 years! The lastest issue is a certified copy of my great grand fathers naturalization records. I went thru immigrations geneology site and recieved just a copy. Immigration told me well you need to send a freedom of information request. Which I sent to Lee's summit and got the paperwork back stating they don't do that type of request any more and go to geneology. Geneology definately doesn't give certified copies. I heard you could go to the county and immigrations web site states if it's before 1906 that is were you should go. Even though it was 1915 I contacted the county. The county said they had the record but sent it to Helena Mt in the 70's and that office closed and they don't know where it went after that. They did have originals of the petition and declaration. Is there anyone out there who did get the papers from immigrations and who or what address or form did they use?

Click "Order Reproductions", then "Immigration and Naturalization Records". On the next page, click "Naturalization Records" and on the next page, use the dropdown "Select a Delivery Format" to select "Certified Paper Copy".

San Francisco I have not make an appointment. I want to get the most important stuff 1st. I still can't get a response from Altomonte concerning his birth certificate. It's been about 4 months. The NARA in Seattle was where Montana told me to look but they e-mailed stating they don't have any naturalization papers. I have e-mailed a general request to them to find out if the central archive has the paper work for the 2nd time. I will try your links thank you.

Has anyone recently got naturalization papers certified by immigration? I believe I can get the oath and declaraton certified from flathead county Mt but under the freedom of information act I can't get immigration to give a certified copy. I am going to sent it again in hopes of an official rejection so I can then go through an appeals process. Flathead believes the original went to Helena and that office closed. I e-mailed the office in Helena that is still open to check if they know where the records went. I havent heard yet. The central archieves doesn't have they, pacific is still checking but they don't think they have them either. Will S.F. take the copy from natuarlization and the certfied copies minus the certificate from Montana? I am going to attempt to ask the consulate but don't know if I will get a response. I am hoping someone might know how to get it from immigration. I think they gave it freely before they genealogy depart. was created.
