Lineage books

Do you consider lineage books a valid source in genealogy? I usually don't pay much attention to them, but I have found a few written in the mid 1800's to early 1900's that have my family in them (on my father's side). Some of the information I have already verified, but some of it goes back a couple more generations.

So what your saying is not to use lineage books to prove something that you want to be true? I always do a search on Google Books and Archive.org when I discover a new ancestor. I was lucky enough to find a book written about the founding families of the county they were in.
