Lineage books
Lineage books
Do you consider lineage books a valid source in genealogy? I usually don't pay much attention to them, but I have found a few written in the mid 1800's to early 1900's that have my family in them (on my father's side). Some of the information I have already verified, but some of it goes back a couple more generations.

Dear Squigy yes indeed but only if the lineage comes your way as an incident of research that your objectives uncover as you pore over records of one sort or another. =Peter=

So what your saying is not to use lineage books to prove something that you want to be true? I always do a search on Google Books and Archive.org when I discover a new ancestor. I was lucky enough to find a book written about the founding families of the county they were in.PeterTimber wrote:Dear Squigy yes indeed but only if the lineage comes your way as an incident of research that your objectives uncover as you pore over records of one sort or another. =Peter=
