immigration records from 1953

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

immigration records from 1953

Post by Nebcan »

Hello there. I have posted before here and the response was great, unfortunately i had some incorrect info. I have found my grandmothers passport with all the stamps from when they immigrated here. I am trying to make a portrait with a picture of the SS Conte Biancamano (which I have already but a ny tips to a better one would be amazing) and a copy of the passenger list with my father's name on it. They travelled under the name Mammola, Concetta with her two sons, Salvatore and Guiseppe and daughter Rosa. they arrived on May 5/6 1953 at Halifax port. If anyone has any information that may help me find this info, please post it. His birthday is mid October and I would like to have it all framed for then. Thanks in advance for any help.

Ciao

you can request the copy of ship's manifest of your ancestors (if available  ):
ID Shipping Company Ship Ports Date Passengers

4778 Italian Line -Conte Biancamano- New York, Halifax-Lisbon, Gibraltar, Barcelona, Palermo, Cannes, Genoa, Naples 1953/6/8 642

contacting the Research Department of Pier 21

I believe that is possible; the ship's manifests are no available on line... that is the only way...
all the best,
