Sardinians among PoWs in South Africa?
Sardinians among PoWs in South Africa?
Good day, folks. Could someone please tell me how I might establish whether there were any Sardinians among the approximately 90 000 Italians who came to South Africa as Prisoners of War in the early 1940s. Even if there weren't any, was there any factor thst might specifically have excluded them? The information is needed to ensure that a modest little work of fiction is authentic in all details. The fictional PoW, for the purposes of the story, needs to be a consript (i e not a volunteer) Sardinian soldier from a well-to-do, even aristocratic, Sardinian family. Many thanks for any assistance in this.
