Payment for Italian docs?

I recently requested my GGF’s birth record in Italy. Does anyone know a good way to pay for these documents? I hoped for an easy online service but could not find one.

Ruesch International charges a $20 fee for bank drafts in Euros but you need to go into a branch and the only one I could find was in Manhattan.

The U.S. Post Office provides money orders in Euros, but not for Italy. When I called Bank of America, they said they could do it. When I went into a local branch, they said no. (The same thing happened with Citibank.) My office needed a bank draft in Canadian funds, which we were able to handle through HSBC, but only because my boss had an account there. It took him an hour to accomplish!

This does not seem like it should be so complicated. Any suggestions?

Buy cash from the bank in Euros. Offices are used to taking cash so it is not a problem. In fact cashing bank drafts costs money so it is not acceptable to most towns.
Most towns don't charge for documents but more and more are beggining too, especially if you don't have a date.

If they take palpay, that is the way to do it, most likely they will not, using Euro like searcher says seems to be the only way the best of a bad lot.

I never considered cash as no one over here ever wants it! Thanks for the insight. I do have the date, so will hope for no fee.

I wrote a letter in Italian with one of the many 'form' letters thay have on line. I was asking for my Grandfather's birth cert. to get the name of my Great Grand Mother..I received it in the mail with no charge. I guess it may depend on who u r writting to. I was amazed n willing to pay.
