Farlino? Fortino? family in Syracuse, NY in 1909
My grandfather Ernesto Marziale traveled to the US from Montecorvino, Salerno on the ship "Berlin" in 1909 (left Naples July 23, arrived Aug 3) with three other people from Montecorvino. I can't make out the names clearly on the original manifest (lines 0027, 0028, 0029, 0030), but the text version reads "Farlino" and "Fortino". They all listed 914 Division St in Syracuse as the address of the cousin. If I had access to a 1909 Syracuse City Directory, I would be able to identify the family living on Division Street.

On the manifest the cousin is listed as Ventura Fortino.
Try a 1910 Census search for the cousin.
Names on the manifest look like
Line - name
27 - Carmine
28 - Adelina
30 - Almerinda
My guess is that they are all last name Fortino. Carmine and Alessandro leave father Pasquale in Montecorvino.
29 - Ernesto Marziale is leaving father Nicola in same comune.
All are going to the address in Syracuse that you mentioned.

Here is 1910 Census for Carmine Fortino living in Syracuse with wife Adelina, daughter Luigia, and sister Almerinda.
Further down the page is Ventura Fortino...

However, they are not living at 914 Division St.

Carmine and Adelina, address 111 Danforth St were having marital discord as reported in the Syracuse Journal Dec 2, 1912
Nov 1908, Carmine (1010 North State St) applied for citizenship but was listed among others as a no show. Syr Journal Nov 21, 1908.
Just posting to show different addresses.

If Tomasso had a Social Security #, you might want to send for his social Security Application which should have the names of his parents...

Looking at the manifest...this "last place of residence" looks like it could be Mirabello Sannitico in Province of Campobasso, Molise Region...ppalladino wrote:My great grandparents Tomasso and Filomena Fortino (Thomas & Fannie) lived on East Division St. I am trying to find the original name of Tomasso as the story has it he was adopted into the Fortino family in Italy.
